Chilling Whistleblower Complaint Alleges ICE Detention Facility Carried Out Unnecessary Sterilizations

A licensed practical nurse who previously worked at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Georgia has turned whistleblower.
According to CNN, Dawn Wooten filed a complaint to the Department of Homeland Security inspector general on Monday.
Wooten's complaint detailed a high rate of hysterectomies and alleged medical neglect.
She stated that while some of the detained women may have required a hysterectomy, 'everybody's uterus cannot be that bad.'
Wooten says she spoke with women who didn't fully understand why they had the medical procedure.
The complaint also alleges the facility didn't take necessary precautions to avoid the spread of Covid-19, which ultimately motivated Wooten to come forward.

South Korea's top court has sharply increased the maximum penalty for producing child pornography.
According to the Supreme Court Tuesday, the sentencing commission created its sentencing guidelines for digital sex crimes the previous day.
It proposed a total of eight special weighing factors and five special reduction factors for child sexual exploitation ...under the Children and Youth Sex Protection Law.
The recommended sentences for habitual offenders have been increased to a range of ten years and six months to 29 years, three months in prison.
Sentences for multiple offenses have been increased as well.
Causing suicides and family breakdowns can lead to increased sentences, ...while voluntary efforts like removing content can reduce jail time.
The proposed guidelines are scheduled to be finalized in December ...after receiving opinions, holding public hearings and making public announcements.

South Korea's Foreign Minister, Kang Kyung-wha, speaking at a multilateral security forum, has called for the resumption of talks between Seoul, Pyeongyang and Washington.
This was on Saturday at the ASEAN Regional Forum held virtually and in which North Korea also took part.
The North, however, reportedly focused on its domestic affairs,... like COVID-19 and the damage from recent typhoons.
North Korea this year was represented by a senior diplomat in Indonesia instead of its foreign minister.
The 27 members of the ASEAN Regional Forum agreed on the need for multilateral cooperation in the fight against COVID-19.

Former New York gynecologist Robert Hadden, who has been accused of sexually abusing more than two dozen patients, including the wife of former presidential candidate Andrew Yang, is now facing federal charges. According to a federal indictment unsealed on Wednesday, Hadden, who surrendered his medical license in 2016 in a state plea deal that excluded a prison sentence, faces six counts of inducing others to travel to engage in illegal sex acts. The government accuses Hadden of abusing “dozens” of his patients, including “multiple minors” between between 1993 and 2012. For more than a decade, the indictment said, Hadden “sexually abused dozens of female patients, including multiple minors, under the guise of conducting purported gynecological and obstetric examinations” at his medical office and at hospitals in Manhattan in New York City.“Hadden did so through a process that entailed developing a relationship with his victims and causing them to trust him, before engaging in a course of increasingly abusive conduct, which Hadden attempted to mask under the guise of legitimate medical care”, federal prosecutors allege. Hadden, 62, was arrested Wednesday morning in Englewood, New Jersey, authorities said. He has not yet entered a plea. According to more than two dozen accusers in a separate civil lawsuit against Columbia University and its hospital system, where Hadden worked, he allegedly groped and penetrated patients during vaginal examinations and “mole checks” that served “no medical purpose.”Hadden’s accusers in the civil lawsuit also said the doctor had also made sexually inappropriate remarks and surreptitiously perform oral sex on patients “to satisfy his own prurient and deviant sexual desires.”Among the women who have come forward with sexual abuse allegations is Evelyn Yang, who told CNN earlier this year that she was seven months pregnant when she went for an appointment with Hadden. The K-C-D-C which has been South Korea's COVID-19 control tower will be upgraded to an independent agency and renamed the Disease Control and Prevention Administration.
The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the revised Government Organization Act,... which passed the National Assembly in August.
The move aimed at strengthening the body's expertise and independence will take effect from Saturday.

House of Flying Daggers Part 1

In AD 859, as the Tang Dynasty declines, several rebel groups are established, the largest of which is the House of Flying Daggers, based in Fengtian, who battle the corrupt government that oppresses the people. Its members use special throwing daggers that always hit their targets to steal from the rich and give to the poor, gaining the support of the locals. Two police officers, Leo (Andy Lau) and Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro), are ordered to kill the leader of the group within ten days, a task that appears to be impossible as no one knows who the leader of the House of the Flying Daggers is.

To accomplish this, Leo arrests Mei (Zhang Ziyi), a blind dancer who is suspected of being the previous leader's daughter. Jin proceeds to assault the jail and set Mei free, pretending that he is a rebel sympathizer, an act which gains Mei's trust. As Mei and Jin travel to the Flying Dagger headquarters, Leo trails behind with reinforcements. Unfortunately, Mei and Jin fall in love.

To make the deception more realistic, Leo and his policemen pretend to ambush the pair. Later, though, they are ambushed for real by soldiers. At a secret meeting, Leo explains that the military has gotten involved and wants Jin and Mei dead. A few days later, Jin and Mei are ambushed again in a bamboo forest and almost killed, but they are saved by the House of Flying Daggers and taken to their headquarters. At this point, Mei is revealed to have been faking her blindness, and is not the actual former leader's daughter. Furthermore, she is engaged to Leo, who has also been revealed to have been pretending to be an officer, and is really a Flying Daggers member. The Flying Daggers are not afraid of the military and are actually looking forward to an open battle. A heartbroken Leo tells Mei that he waited for her for three years since he went undercover to infiltrate the police, and asks how she could fall in love with Jin after only three days, only to be told she has her heart set on Jin.

Leo tries to rape Mei, but their superior Nia throws a dagger into Leo's back and reassigns them to new missions, separating them. Shortly after, Mei is told to execute Jin. She frees him instead but refuses to desert the House to join him. Later, Mei changes her mind and rides after Jin, but is ambushed by Leo, who casts two daggers at her. Mei manages to deflect one of them while the other pierces her breast and seemingly kills her. At this point, Jin discovers Leo and the two of them fight, but their skills are too evenly matched. A raging blizzard falls upon them, while the military approaches the House.
