Head of U.S. Postal Service to testify before Senate, House committees amid mail-in ballot controversy

The head of the U.S. Postal Service will testify before the Republican-led Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee on Friday and the Democrat-led House Oversight Committee next Monday.
The testimonies come as Postmaster General Louis DeJoy faces bipartisan criticism that he made cost-cutting initiatives to his organization that have slowed mail deliveries just months before the November 3rd presidential election.
This has raised concerns that the Postal Service will not be able to handle mail-in ballots in a timely manner.
DeJoy, who took office in June, swiftly made organizational changes to the country's mail service,... including plans to remove almost 700 mail-sorting machines and public mailboxes in a number of states.
